Mt. Vernon, IL (August 24, 2015) – Employees celebrated at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital–Mt. Vernon and SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital–Centralia this afternoon as hospital leaders raised their glasses and unveiled a new sign along with a renewed commitment to patients. Beginning today, the hospitals, medical group and convenient cares in Southern Illinois will be known as:
SSM Health, with its focus on providing affordable and high-quality care to the community, is working to transform health care by delivering a consistently positive experience and increased accessibility to our patients. To accomplish this goal, SSM Health locations will be offering new convenient hours, as well as the tools and information that patients need to stay healthy.
“Our hospitals, convenient cares and medical group have had the honor and privilege of serving patients in the Southern Illinois area and beyond,” said Phil Gustafson, regional president of SSM Health in Southern Illinois. “Recently our St. Louis locations adopted SSM Health, as have other hospitals and clinics across our health system. By uniting under this common name, our patients, employees and community will know to expect an exceptional experience every time they see SSM Health.”
SSM Health is building upon its mission with new energy and a focus to the future of health care. The name SSM Health was unveiled in Fall 2014 when the new SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital – Jefferson City opened. SSM Health’s other clinics, hospitals and health care services in Missouri, Illinois, Oklahoma and Wisconsin will transition to the new name within the next two years.
