Find a physician and schedule an appointment completely online

Mt. Vernon, IL (June 21, 2016) — A simple online self-scheduling tool is allowing new patients to find and schedule an appointment with a primary care provider at SSM Health Medical Group in southern Illinois.  This new tool allows patients to schedule doctor's appointments online 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

"This is another way to meet the needs of our community," states Matt Sojka, MD and President of SSM Health Medical Group in Illinois.  "During our health care needs assessment, we continued to see access to care as a high priority.  Just about everyone has a smartphone and this technology allows those who do not have a health care provider to quickly find one and to schedule an appointment online. I am pleased we continue to make strides to improve the health of our community.  We are improving access to care and patient satisfaction in just a few clicks".

SSM Health has utilized this service in St. Louis for over a year; thousands have used the service to find a new doctor on their own time, now that option is here in Illinois.

Anyone looking for a new primary care provider close to home simply visits

www.ssmhealthillinois.com/now  and click on the "Need a Physician" banner.  Locations are divided into geographic areas, making it simple to select a health care provider located close to you. With five primary care locations throughout the region, health care providers can be selected based on patient location preferences.

"We know our patient's time is valuable. That's why we partnered with InQuicker to provide a 24/7 online feature to help them find a doctor and schedule a visit whenever it is convenient," said, Sojka. "Research shows that locating a physician who is accepting new patients is one of the most helpful ways we can assist those looking for health care. With just a few clicks or taps on their smartphone, new patients can check a physician's office location, availability and insurance options with ease, then schedule an appointment."

Patients who have used the service say it's a timesaver.  "Great to book an appointment on a Sunday evening while lying in bed. Rather than calling right when they open, remaining in cue for 10 minutes, then just having to accept what appointment time they give you," said a recent user.

New patient online scheduling follows another successful service, SSM Health's online check-in for non-emergency care.   This allows patients to choose a treatment time for non-emergency care at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital emergency room, SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital emergency room and at their Convenient Care sites in Mt. Vernon and Centralia.   After checking in, patients wait at home for minor emergency room care or urgent care, then go to the site at their chosen time.  To check-in, visit www.ssmhealthillinois.com/now.

Ease of access continues once an individual establishes themselves with an SSM Health Medical Group provider through the MyChart tool.  This tool gives patients access to review their office visit notes, see test results, communicate directly and confidentially with their health care provider, receive healthy exam/testing recommendations and to schedule follow-up appointments.
