, volunteers are an essential part of our team, with a commitment to providing exceptional service to our patients, visitors and staff. We have more than 200 volunteers, ranging in ages from 18 to more than 90 years old, who serve in a variety of areas. The caring and generous spirit of our volunteers helps to make SSM Health the best place to receive your health care.
We enrich our community and support the healing Mission and Values of SSM Health by creating opportunities for people to experience the joy of serving others while ensuring an exceptional experience for those that serve. Volunteer positions are identified by departments based on the needs in each respective area. A variety of volunteer opportunities are offered, including customer service and hospitality, administrative duties, assisting nursing staff, visiting or sitting with patients in their rooms, pastoral care visits and working in non-clinical support areas.
You must be 18 years or older to apply to be a Volunteer or Auxiliary Member at on of our SSM Health locations in Illinois. You will receive regular training and coaching. In general, volunteers donate about four consecutive hours per week, though more are always appreciated.
